Laban asked seven more years as your price
Can he set a price for the jewel of Africa?
O Rachel! you are priceless and glorious
Sweeter than honey, prettier than the roses.
Seven or seventy years, I don’t mind
Your charm and beauty, the years cannot steal
Glory of the jewels increases with years
Wine gets stronger with time and tide
How can I touch your flaming cheeks!
My fingers are hardened like Laban’s heart
Hardened with seven years of hard labor
Seven more years to quench the flare of love!
The veil of darkness covered its folly for a night
The trickery of Laban came out exposed
The dawn broke out with truth revealed
But the wound of heart will never be healed.
When your glory pierces my soul, O! Rachel,
When my dreams are immersed in your beauty
Seven years are seven moments in life
Even the waters of Nile won’t quench this flame.
