1.
Born late to my parents,
Being premature at birth,
I was nurtured with care,
I got all the love and all the watch;
I was my father's lil princess;
I was my grandfather's lil friend
Who followed him like a lamb;
Now i look back as a grown up
And all these thoughts inundate.
2.
I could never think of a dull moment,
I never felt the stress and pressure;
I never felt a need for anything and,
Never felt an urge to ask anything.
I was a happy, silent achiever who
Never mentioned anything of what
I did, I wanted to do or was doing.
Growing with discipline, grit and
Tenacity, I remain the real me.
3.
Growing up in a joint family,
You know what is love and care;
Having someone or the other
Meant there was no loneliness;
With your own favourite people,
You can confide things easily;
No 'your and mine' but 'our home.'
No selfishness, greed and cunningness
Only generosity.
4.
In joint families, people do not laugh at you when you make a mistake;
People do not snitch about you
Because they know their errors too;
People do not differentiate
Because you are from another family;
People are usually encompassing
And not discriminatory like many.
People care for you than judge.
5.
There is love, honesty, joy
And a true laugh from your heart
When you say, ' joint family.'
There is care, security, learning
And teaching without judging
When you say, 'one family.'
There is discipline and guidance
And that comes from all elders
When you say, ' blood relation.'
6.
There cannot be better dishonesty,
There cannot be better ungratefulness,
There cannot be better arrogance,
There cannot be better meanness
There cannot be better unfairness,
There cannot be better falsity
When one expects you to do things
And offer no assist whatsoever!
This never happens in a joint family.
