Smiles That Lied (Poem: Drisya)

Smiles That Lied (Poem: Drisya)

The clock moved on, the end grew near,

He masked his love, concealed his tear.

Until that dusk when silence broke,

And through his fear, the truth he spoke.

She didn’t flinch, she didn’t run,

Just held his gaze till day was done.

No promises, no future plans,

Just quiet hearts with holding hands.

They laughed again, like all was well,

Though both had stories they couldn’t tell.

He loved her deep, she loved him too,

But life had drawn a line they knew.

So he let go, but not too far,

He watched her shine like northern star.

No longer his, not fully gone,

Just etched in soul, forever drawn.

And so they played the parts they knew,

In smiles that hid the love so true.

He was the joke, the friend, the grace—

The dreamer with the aching face.

And if you ask him of that time,

He'll speak in hush, like it's a crime.

For some love lives, though left behind,

In places fate forgot to find.
