1.
When you feel envious of another,
Sitback and ask yourself - why?
When you wish that others stay stagnant,
And only you and your kin grow,
Pause and reflect - why?
When you feel divine sadistic joy
At the very thought of another's doom,
Look into the mirror and ask yourself - why?
When you get frustrated seeing another live well,
yet offered you a rope in your need, ask yourself -- why!
If you have honest answers to all these whys,
perhaps you are justified in your thoughts,
else you are nothing short of evil.
2.
Seeing another do well and feeling happy
about it is being a good human.
Seeing another live comfortably and
feeling truly proud is having a good heart.
Seeing another grow organically and
feeling elated is thinking godly.
Seeing another in pain and offering a
helping hand, with no expectation,
is true benevolence.
Seeing another suffer a loss and
giving them your shoulder for a warm embrace
is showing your warmth and care.
But seeing another climb up the ladder, and
trying to push the ladder away so they fall —
That is the evil thought within you.
You should keep it at bay.
3.
Feeling envious looking at another grow;
Feeling the pressure to compete by hook or crook;
Feeling the need to be on par than happy;
Feeling the urge to step up one notch more;
Feeling the competition to compare you with the other;
Are all signs of a not so healthy mind and body.
The more you force yourself to grow,
the more you will recede and wilt.
Just do what you have to and leave
the rest to take its own course.
4.
Your look of envy shows plainly on your face,
with no screen to hide behind;
Your words of envy ring in others’ ears,
with nothing to silence that devilish sound;
Your acts of envy are plain to see, leaving you no escape;
Your thoughts of envy reveal themselves
when you smile wickedly at another’s fall;
Your envious behavior teaches others to be wary and guarded.
Your envy shows you as one who
smiles outwardly but thinks impishly within.
In envy your real smallness exposes.
5.
An envious mind is the devil’s workshop;
An envious act is the devil in action;
An envious talk is the devil in speech;
An envious look is the devil’s glance;
An envious heart is the devil’s space;
An envious behaviour is the devil competing;
An envious aggression is the devil comparing;
An envious thought is the devil’s mind;
An envious face is the devil’s mask;
When you are envious, your actions, looks,
and deeds reveal that devil within you.
6.
When you envy others, you lose sleep.
Your mind churns with negativity,
plotting to bring the other down.
Your heart pumps with heavy pressure,
craving sadistic moments.
Your thoughts swim in darkness,
with nothing positive coming to your aide.
Your deeds, driven by envy, turn belligerent.
Your words reveal every cue of jealousy, filling you with guilt.
Your group may look like a large cult of like-minded followers—
yet each secretly plots against the others,
trying to pull them down.
Envy is not something you want to nurture;
genuine happiness for another’s growth
guarantees peace and calm to your mind, body, and soul.
